Lisbon, a thousand-year-old city facing the Atlantic, is honored on this commemorative coin of the Ibero-American Capitals series. With emphasis on the Bica Elevator on the obverse, it symbolizes the diversity and richness of the Portuguese capital. On the reverse, the armillary sphere and coats of arms of UCCI countries represent Lisbon's connection to Ibero-American cities. The coin, designed by Nuno Caetano, reflects the importance of UCCI in cooperation between cities.
