Ponte de Lima, located in the district of Viana do Castelo, is the oldest town in Portugal, with a rich history of traditions, culture and architecture.
On March 4, 1125, Countess D. Teresa de Leão granted it a charter, referring to the town as “bridge land”, which guaranteed it privileges and exemptions, strengthening its role as a geostrategic center in the Middle Ages.
Today, it is a vibrant municipality, remaining an important cultural and tourist hub, with a heritage that mixes Roman, medieval and contemporary influences.
