The design depicts the reproduction of the logo of the Centenary of the Air Force. On the left ‘R’, identifying the Mint of Rome; above, ‘RI’, acronym of the Italian Republic; below, the arch-shaped inscription ‘AERONAUTICA MILITARE’; on the right, ‘VdS’, initials of the designer Valerio De Seta. The coin’s outer ring bears the 12 stars of the European flag.
